ARENSBAK can be enjoyed as a companion to the food, company and party or for a "quiet moment".

ARENSBAK is based on fermented tea (Kombucha), with the addition of selected ingredients and spices.

It cannot be compared with conventional wine, since the drink is not based on grapes, but has precisely the vinous character known from the world of wine. Tannins and tannins.

ARENSBAK contains only a few calories. 1/3 compared to traditional wine.

ARENSBAK Red goes well with e.g. a well-hung red steak, braised pork jaws, mushroom risotto and for hearty vegetarian dishes.

ARENSBAK White goes well with e.g. seafood, baked and steamed vegetables, pasta dishes and cheese tables, but can also just be enjoyed in a quiet moment.

Development and production

It takes a good 6 weeks to produce a bottle of ARENSBAK, but it took over 2 years to develop the recipes for ARENSBAK.

It was a complicated process with many tests and sample productions, before we were satisfied with the taste and expression.

Co-founder Bram Kerkhof, who is a trained Gastrophysicist, with a background from Restaurant Noma's fermenteringslab, talks about the development and production of ARENSBAK.

Non alcoholic – What does it mean

The fact that something is alcohol-free means that it must contain no more than 0.5% alcohol. This amount is also referred to as residual alcohol and is physically insignificant for most people. ARENSBAK produces non-alcoholic products.

We strive to achieve a minimal alcohol content, but there is a very small amount of residual alcohol in ARENSBAK, which originates from our fermentation. But this is no more than 0.5%.

Kombucha

Kombucha is a more than 2000-year-old Chinese recipe. Kombucha was originally a mouthwatering healthy drink, but in recent years it has become a popular soft drink in many flavours.

We use the recipe from Kombucha in the production of ARENSBAK. Read more about Kombucha here.

Tea is not just tea

In collaboration with one of Europe's leading tea sommeliers, Alexis Kaae, we have carried out a thorough research to find the teas that add the best flavours and notes to our products. Read more about the teas we use in ARENSBAK.

Fermentation

Fermentation has been used for millennia. The use of fermentation dates back to the Paleolithic, when food was preserved, and the process was also used in the production of beverages. Read more about fermentation.

Ecology & sustainability

At ARENSBAK, we naturally focus on the world we are a part of and work in our production and value chain to optimize all processes with a view to an organic and sustainable production.

Our ingredients in the production are almost all organic, which is why we expect to be able to become organic certified within a few months.

We strive to use sustainable materials. We have deposit return-bottles and use logistics / transport modes that avoid CO2-emissions as much as possible.

How can Arensbak be non-alcoholic, if it’s a fermented drink?

ARENSBAK uses a fermentation on the basis of Kombucha, which is a natural process that doesn’t produce much alcohol. The alcohol that is produced is transformed into organic acids resulting in a profile with an amazing fermented flavour. Our expertise in brewing the perfect Kombucha base ensures that ARENSBAK stays below a 0.5% alcohol content, after which ARENSBAK is pasteurised to maintain quality over time.

Is ARENSBAK vegan friendly?

All ARENSBAK drinks are vegan friendly.
